Torremolinos · Costa del Sol · Andalusia
Your little luxury castle on Bajondillo beach, Torremolinos.
Shared with friends
El Castillito is our bungalow on the Costa del Sol. We share it with friends who care for it as we do. Friends of friends are welcome when we know they will too. It sits in a quiet, private gated community right above Bajondillo beach, with private lifts down to the sand, set up the way we like to stay ourselves.
The terrace faces east, so every morning the sun comes up straight in front of the bungalow, in colours that change with the season, fiery orange in winter, soft pink and gold in summer. The view takes in the whole of Málaga Bay and, on clear days, the Sierra Nevada. If you are lucky, you also see double rainbows from the terrace. Best with a coffee.

Two proper workstations: a desk in the main bedroom and a separate studio room that is fully private, so you can close the door and take calls undisturbed. Each has its own auxiliary 27-inch screen, which you plug into your laptop or docking station via HDMI. Two people can work at the same time, each in their own room, with fast wifi and the beach a lift ride away.
Air conditioning or heating is switched on before you arrive, so the house is fresh in summer and warm in winter.
A cold bottle of cava waits in the wine fridge. It's on us.
Drinking water, shower gel, detergent and kitchen basics are ready for you.
Living in Amsterdam? We hand you the keys before you leave.
The main bedroom and its desk both look straight out to sea. So does the rest of the bungalow, except the studio. The back of the house is floor to ceiling double glazed glass with thermal insulation. Motorized vertical blinds block 85% of the UV and you still see the water through them. In the main bedroom a blackout curtain hangs over the blind for 100% blockage, so the room stays cool in summer.
Our beach is Bajondillo, between La Carihuela and Playamar. Dark sand, sandy entry into the sea, chiringuitos with tapas, fish and seafood along the promenade. A busy town beach, especially in summer. More about Bajondillo beach
Swimming conditions are good here, with a moderate swell and a lifeguard service.
At one end stands El Morro, a rock formation that dominates the Torremolinos coastline. The walks around it are worth making. More about El Morro

The lifts take you down to the Paseo Marítimo in under a minute. The promenade is made for a slow walk: sea views, cafés, chiringuitos, street performers. Walk right towards La Carihuela and Benalmádena, left towards Playamar and Los Álamos. The coast runs for kilometres either way.
Shops, public toilets, parking and public transport are all close by. Beach and promenade are accessible, and a bike lane runs along the coast.
The path runs for kilometres, dotted with vegetation, and the bike lane suits walking, skating or cycling. The chiringuitos here are known for fried fish. People do yoga on the grass in palm shade, run along the wet sand, and take up almost any water sport. Or just sit and listen to the waves. More about the promenade
By train: from Málaga Airport, about three trains an hour to Torremolinos, a ride of around 10 minutes. From the station it is a walk of 10 minutes at most.
By car: about 15 minutes from the airport. Parking on request.
Málaga is about 20 minutes by train. The C1 line runs from Torremolinos station straight to Málaga Centro-Alameda, in the historic centre, several times an hour. Morning at the Picasso Museum, the Alcazaba or the cathedral, lunch on Calle Larios, and back on the terrace in time for tomorrow's sunrise.
